Brentwood, TN (Mansion Entertainment) August 27, 2010 – The Sonmen have signed a recording agreement with Manor House Music, a division of Mansion Entertainment. With this signing, the Sonmen become the newest member of the Manor House Music family of artists.
Many new quartets do not find themselves on the main stage of the National Quartet Convention within a year of their formation, but that defined the start of The Sonmen when they won the prestigious NQC Talent Competition in 1985 and performed on the main stage of NQC in recognition of their achievement. Subsequent radio success of their single, “Keep Looking Up”, further confirmed this quartet’s potential by the Southern Gospel industry. After a break in the 1990’s, the Sonmen have been back on the road continuing the legacy of the classic quartet sound similar to that of The Cathedrals, The Stamps and The Statesmen. Group members Mike Botts (lead), Aaron Perkins (bass), Dale Boreing (tenor), Jeff Perkins (baritone & piano) and Les “Buzz” Pilot (bass guitar) have found themselves performing with artists such as The Booth Brothers, The Nelons, Gold City, The Kingsmen, Karen Peck & New River, Jeff & Sheri Easter as well as making appearances on programs such as The Jim Bakker TV Show and The Branson Gospel Music Convention.
A release date for the new project and forthcoming debut radio single will be announced at a later date. “Keep On Pressin’ On” available now
August 26, 2010 (Nashville, TN) - Singer/songwriter/speaker and soon-to-be author Shannon Perry has just released her new radio single entitled “Keep On Pressing On” from her CD, The Real Thing. Co-written by Shannon and her producer, Lifeway songwriter Paul Marino, “Keep on Pressing On” comes from a time in Shannon's life when circumstances looked bleak. She had just learned, in the course of a 24-hour period, that her husband had cancer, her father suffered a heart attack and a hurricane was threatening her Texas home. Shannon recalls those intense moments as if they were yesterday.
“I remember quietly heading up the stairs to snuggle into my overstuffed 'prayer chair,'” says Shannon. “As I prepared to pour out my heart in formal declarations so that God would 'really' hear me, the strangest thing happened. In place of eloquence came only four words: 'God, I trust you.' Praying through hot tears for over an hour, the only words I could seem to whisper during my entire prayer time were the same: 'God, I trust you.' 'Couldn’t I come up with anything better than this?' I thought. After all, these were larger than life situations that needed larger than life prayers. That’s when I heard four more words in my heart: 'Keep On Pressing On.' It was as if the coach of my team had just stepped up to home plate while I was at bat and whispered in my ear, 'You can do it! I’m right here with you.'”
Shannon tells the entire story of “Keep On Pressing On” in her new article on Crosswalk.com. Shannon is a contributing writer for the site which has over 24 million views per month. Shannon is also a sought-after speaker for women's events, and her original conference called “If the Shoe Fits” combines Shannon's singing prowess with her teaching abilities. Shannon earned her Master’s Degree in Education with an emphasis in counseling and taught in the public school system for over 14 years before entering into full-time ministry. She has previously-released projects with both Daywind and Benson Records which garnered radio airplay on the national Christian charts. She has performed with the Houston Symphony and had the distinct privilege of performing at Carnegie Hall. Shannon has ministered with best-selling authors Karen Kingsbury, Jan Silvious (Women of Faith), Joanna Weaver, and Di Ann Mills. She has also shared the stage with artists such as Larnelle Harris, Gordon Mote (keyboard player for Bill Gaither), Calvin Hunt of the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, Jeannette Clift George (A.D. Players), Allison Durham Spear, and Michael English. She has been a featured soloist at the J&J Music Conferences in Houston, Texas, and led praise and worship at numerous women’s conferences and for the national Lifeway conferences held annually in New Mexico and North Carolina. In her “spare” time, Shannon hosts her own radio show on BlogTalkRadio.com. Her new book entitled “Grace in High Heels” is set to release later this fall.
“Keep On Pressin’ On” is available now on MP3 from TS Promotions and on SCM Disc # 15.

NASHVILLE, TENN. (August 23, 2010) – THE HOPPERS, one of Gospel music’s most acclaimed and awarded family recording artists, have just completed an all-new studio recording entitled SOMETHING'S HAPPENING (Spring Hill Music), which will hit the streets August 24th. The new release, produced and arranged by legendary composer and producer Lari Goss, has been in the works for nearly two years.
“When you are in the studio, you’re always trying to make sure you are getting it right,” describes soprano Kim Hopper. “Singing before an audience is entirely different. When on stage, you want to paint pictures for the audience as you sing. This recording process gave us a chance to go in and re-do what we had recorded based on what we found worked live. We changed the flow of lines and were able to capture on the recording something closer to what we do in concert.”
The group has captured some unique moments on the new release, which includes songs penned by Bill Gaither, Rusty Golden, Dianne Wilkinson, Joel Lindsey, Tony Wood, Kyla Rowland, Nancy Harmon, Larry Hinson and Gerald Crabb among others. One of those stand-out moments is Connie’s collaboration with Goss on the title cut.
“We had listened to the song ‘Something’s Happening,’” adds Connie. “Kim liked it. Lari loved it but said that it needed something between the verses—something describing what’s going on. He said, ‘Connie, why don’t you go write that?’ This is what we came up with.”
“Lari is a well that never runs dry,” describes Dean. “He pieces the story together regardless of the style of song and has such knowledge. He is constantly thinking from the top to the bottom of the process…seeing the song from beginning to end. It’s like God’s given him a three-dimensional view into a song with the heart that he has in each stroke of the pen while writing arrangements.”
One of the unique vocal arrangements on the release is “Living in the Arms of Mercy,” which finds drummer Mike Hopper behind the microphone, taking the high part alongside Dean and Kim for an unexpected blend from this family. “Nobody’s Too Bad or Too Good” features a solo from Dean and Kim’s daughter Karlye. Group patriarch Claude Hopper is featured on a re-make of the classic “I Know Who Holds Tomorrow.” The group also joins artists Greater Vision, The Booth Brothers and Legacy Five for the song “Statement of Faith,” a song recorded collaboratively and released by each of the groups on their individual recordings in addition to being released into the choral market through LifeWay.
The release of Something’s Happening falls on the heels of the successful launch of THE GAITHER GOSPEL SERIES: THE BEST OF THE HOPPERS (Gaither Music Group). The DVD soared to #2 on Billboard’s video chart while the CD entered the Billboard Heatseeker chart at #4. Additionally, the CD entered the Nielsen SoundScan Southern Gospel chart at #1 and the Contemporary Christian chart at #10.
The Hoppers maintain a heavy touring schedule, performing on the Gaither Homecoming stage, at the National Quartet Convention (over 60,000 attendees), the Great Western Gospel Music Fan Festival (8-9,000 attendees), at the Cove and at Singing in the Sun in addition to around 150 dates annually.
SOMETHING'S HAPPENING, available through EMI CMG Distribution, will be available at online outlets, including iTunes and Amazon.com among others, and also in retail stores where Christian music is sold. For further information regarding The Hoppers, visit http://www.thehoppers.com

Today the group is made up of twin brothers Michael and Mitch Gardner and Mitch’s wife, Regina. Together, they form a dynamic trio that features tight harmonies and well-written songs that are penned by the siblings.

Dear Friends,
Words cannot begin to express our gratitude and appreciation for all of the kindness, well wishes, and prayers for my husband, Tracy Stuffle, and our family.
As most of you know, Tracy suffered a heart attack last week while at home. It was then determined that he would need open heart surgery and five bypasses. The doctors were able to perform the surgery on Friday, August 13, without any issues, and Tracy is currently resting comfortably. We are expecting him to be released from the hospital on Tuesday, August 17, to begin his recovery at home. Our family has been overwhelmed at the love and support from thousands across this land. “Thank you” seems so inadequate, but please know that it is from the heart. God has truly given my husband a second chance, for which we are so grateful.
We know that we have a long road ahead of us for Tracy’s recovery, but God is faithful. Many people have asked, “What can we do?” Tracy and I ask two things of our many friends across the country. First and foremost, we humbly ask for your prayers as we begin the next phase of Tracy’s rehabilitation and full recovery. Secondly, it would mean so much to Tracy and I that you support the group as they continue to travel in our absence. Tracy will not be on stage for several weeks, and I believe my place should be by his side as his wife, confidante, and primary caregiver. I do plan to go with the group when possible, but my priority will be Tracy’s care. Katy Peach, Troy’s wife, will be filling my position when I am not able to go with the group. (If you have ever heard her, you know she is an incredible singer!) Please know that the Perrys will be fulfilling all of our dates in the coming weeks. Your support will give us this much-needed time for Tracy to fully recover, and make the necessary adjustments in our lifestyle following this surgery.
Thank you again for your love and support. With Tracy’s full health, we believe the future is brighter than ever for the Perrys.
Love,
Libbi Perry Stuffle

Nashville, TN- Homeland Entertainment Group on behalf of The Toney Brothers would like thank all of you who have been faithfully praying for George Amon Webster and the Toney Brothers. We would like to report that George was released from the hospital on Thursday, August 12th. He looks good and is in great spirits and has returned home to Tennessee. His left arm is doing well and healing as expected. However, his fractured hip socket is healing slow and will require him to be off of it for an estimated six weeks. While all of this is positive news, we regret to inform you the test results of the mass found on George’s neck.
Doctors have discovered that George has cancer lesions on the back of his tongue that are spreading to the right side of his throat. So far, they say it is 9 cm in size, is non-operable and must be treated with chemotherapy and radiation. The doctors in Illinois are referring George to someone in Nashville to treat his cancer condition. Doctors have also voiced concern for George’s lack of eye sight due to his cataract problem. They feel this impairment will slow down his physical therapy process since he now cannot see enough to be mobile. Doctors also do not wish to start chemotherapy treatment, then have to pause for a cataract surgery.
The current plan formed by George’s doctors is for him to have cataract surgery then begin physical therapy and cancer treatment.
Please continue to keep George and the Toney Brothers in your prayers. For more updates concerning George, please visit http://www.toneybrothers.com or http://www.homelandentertainmentgroup.com

Country Johnny Mathis, not to be confused with the pop singer of the same name, was known as both a Country singer and songwriter during the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. As a BMI Award winning songwriter Mathis had songs recorded by many of the most formative artists of Country Music during that time frame, seven who are now Country Music Hall of Fame inductees. This on the heels of a Top 20 song with United Artists and a nomination for "New Male Vocalist In Country Music" by Billboard Magazine. He began to evangelize across the nation both singing and preaching while delivering albums for the Pickwick, Hilltop and Little Darling labels.
Now for the first time in 40 years, the Gospel songs of Country Johnny Mathis are being reissued and are available via download through the major digital music sites such as iTunes and Rhapsody. For more information regarding Country Johnny Mathis visit http://www.CountryJohnnyMathis.com.

New Project To Debut Next Month During National Quartet Convention
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – (August 14, 2010) – Sunday Edition, one of Nashville’s favorite groups, is excited about the release of the trio’s highly anticipated new recording – Sunday Worship. Sunday Worship is a conceptual recording that not only pays tribute to the group’s history singing in the church, but it also takes a look at the current landscape of church music.
Deon Unthank of Sunday Edition said, “All three of us have fond memories of going to our grandparents’ old country churches and singing along in worship with nothing more than our voices an old, out-of-tune piano. So, that inspired us when recording this record to strip it down to the way it used to be and just sing these songs from the bottom of our soul with nothing but a piano and the voices God gave us.”
Sunday Worship consists of six cherished hymns and five modern worship songs set to an acoustic, piano only accompaniment.
Deon Unthank, who also co-produced the record, said, “Everywhere we go, people ask us to sing one of two things – either worship songs or hymns. Well, this release focuses on both those aspects of church music.”
“We are so excited about this release, because we really feel like you can sense the heart and emotion behind these songs,” mentioned Amy Marie Unthank of Sunday Edition. “We picked these songs, because they mean something to each of us.”
Sunday Worship was recorded with the concept of “less-is-more” in mind. Very little digital enhancements and processing was used on the vocals, and the group opted out of using vocal stacks and vocal alignment for this album.
“More than anything, we wanted this recording to feel authentic. We didn’t want it to sound over-produced and over-processed. What’s great is that you do get to hear blemishes in our voices and moments where we could have sang it better – but we wanted to make it sound like we were in an old country church singing these songs – just like we remember. We hope we accomplished that,” mentioned co-producer and Sunday Edition member Chris D. Unthank.
Sunday Worship features an equal share of modern and classic worship tunes like “Blessed Assurance,” “Precious Lord,” “The Old Rugged Cross,” “Indescribable,” “Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone),” and “Friend of God,” in addition to many more songs.
Vocals for the new album were recorded at Square One Studio in Franklin, Tennessee. The project was produced by group members Chris and Deon Unthank, and all vocals were arranged by Sunday Edition. Jeff Duffield mixed and mastered the recording, while tracks for the album were performed and recorded by Bobby McAllister (for Salem-Sound in Winston-Salem, NC). The group enlisted the help of Deon’s pastor Johnny Minick for the piano on “Feeling Mighty Fine.” Steve Allen and Aaron Minick also assisted in engineering for the project.
Sunday Worship will debut and be available to purchase for the first time during the week of the National Quartet Convention in Louisville, Kentucky from September 13-18, 2010. Sunday Edition will be performing on Monday afternoon’s Featured Artist Showcase from 3:00-4:00 p.m. and will be singing selections from the new release at the showcase.
Sunday Edition recently released their follow-up to the smash-hit “He Bore a Cross.” The new single, titled “Mercy Walks a Road,” was once again produced by Glen Bates and written by Bates and Glen Ashworth. The new song is another special single release with BSA World Records.
The song is currently available for radio stations to download via Chuck Peters’ SG Show Prep and was released to radio through DJ Man Promotions and BSA World Records. In addition, the song is also being promoted to radio by TS Promotions, the Rick Hendrix Company, and Music City Media Group.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (August 11, 2010) – Vine Records/Crossroads recording artist and 2009 Dove Award nominee HisSong performed at the 2010 Night Vision Festival in Olathe, Colorado last month. Additional artists who performed at the event included Michael W. Smith, Brandon Heath, Third Day, American Idol's Phil Stacey, Matthew West, Francesca Battistelli, Kutless, Skillet, The Katinas and more. HisSong was the only Southern Gospel group to perform for the three-day festival, which had more than 15,000 people in attendance each day.
HisSong owner/manager Dennis Humphries states, “We were very honored to be a part of this event. Our friend Victoria Hearst, who is such an inspiration to us all, brought HisSong to Colorado in 2009 for another event and immediately asked us to be a part of this festival. We were very concerned about being the only Southern Gospel group and how the crowd would accept our music. However, we were very pleased with the response we got. Anywhere God opens the doors for us, we're ready to walk through.”
In addition, HisSong also performed at the Stamps-Baxter School of Music in Murfreesboro, Tennessee at Middle Tennessee State University on Wednesday, July 15, 2010.
“We were honored to get an invitation from Ben Speer to perform an hour concert to the students and faculty,” said Dennis. “I attended the Stamps-Baxter School of Music several years ago, and it has helped me in so many ways in my ministry and career. It was great getting to talk with the students and faculty at our product table following the concert. It brought back so many memories of when I was a student.”

We wish to announce that Rick Fair has accepted the position of bass singer with Southern Sound Quartet. Rick brings a long and rich history with great quartet groups including Palmetto State and Hovie Lister and The Statesmen Quartet. We went through an exhaustive search for the right man, both in fine bass voice and Christian character, and Rick is the perfect fit.
Rick replaces Alan Brewster who is leaving the group to have more time to devote to his business in Ringgold, GA. Alan has made many friends during his tenure with Southern Sound, and many in the industry have come to recognize him as one of the finest bass singers ever to grace a stage. Alan and his lovely wife Pam will be missed more than words can say. They brought a touch of grace and character to Southern Sound, and are lasting members of our extended family. Although Alan will not be part of our touring ensemble, he will in fact, always be a member of Southern Sound and very much loved by all of us. Alan, we wish you and Pam only the best, as you have given your best, not only to us, but to your Heavenly Father. These two kind and generous people are the real thing. They both love the Lord and prove it everyday in their walk with Him. Be well my friends and go with God!
And now a new chapter begins with Rick Fair as the anchor of our group. Rick's calm laid-back style is a perfect fit for our group. His voice is huge and powerful, and we look forward to the months and years ahead. This decision did not come lightly, but only after many hours of praying and asking God for His will. We had many great candidates contact us with interest in becoming our new bass singer, and we are honored by your interest in Southern Sound. In the end, Rick was both the voice and the man we felt fit us the best. Help us welcome Rick Fair to Southern Sound Quartet. And, be sure to come hear Rick on his first engagement with Southern Sound at Grand Ole Gospel Reunion in Greenville, SC in mid August.

Georgia music industry members, friends and family of Georgia Music Hall of Fame member John L Carson, 77, gathered July 31 in Decatur, Ga. to celebrate his life.
Chaplain Danny Roland officiated and Randall Franks gave the eulogy.
Carson died July 27, 2010 at an Atlanta area hospital after suffering a heart attack and fall.
Carson combined his musical pedigree, talent and love of people to pioneer a career in Georgia's music industry. He was also a member of the Carolinas Country, Bluegrass and Gospel Hall of Fame and their Legend Award winner.
He was the grandson of the late Fiddlin' John Carson, who gave him his first fiddle at the age of 10 and the nephew of the late RCA recording artist, “Moonshine Kate” Carson.
He was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2009 receiving the Mary Tallent Pioneer Award, thus becoming the second member of his family alongside his grandfather. His cousin John R. Carson is a member of the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame. The Atlanta, Ga. native from Cabbagetown began his journey through the music industry by booking bands at the age of 15.
He was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Atlanta, where excelled in many sports, however his records in track and cross-country were not broken until the 1980's.
According to family members, the Atlanta Journal called him the greatest athlete to wear the Crimson Tide colors. He also attended the University of Georgia, Atlanta Division; Georgia State College; Georgia State University, and Atlanta Law School.
Throughout his wide-ranging career, he managed, promoted, produced, showcased and paid tribute to hundreds of country, bluegrass, gospel and western musicians.
He served in the U. S. Army in Korea.
As a music business entrepreneur with his partner Phyllis Cole, he founded Fiddlin’ John Carson Productions in 1970, including publishing companies - Fiddlin’ John Carson Publishers and Fid John Carson Publishers, show productions, management and record companies eventually bringing all the businesses under Cradle of Country Music Productions.
He and Cole founded the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame in 1982 honoring over a thousand people who have impacted the Atlanta and Georgia music scene over the last 28 years.
He also founded the Atlanta Country Music Academy in 1986 in Cabbagetown with the focus of educated young singers at no cost. He served as Co-Director of the Atlanta Society of Entertainers since 1994 and also served on the board of Friends of Georgia Music Festival board member for many years. In addition to his music career, he and Cole also formed the International Association of Security Guards in 1976, in order to give security personnel proper training. He coordinated this organization for several years.
Among the many artists’ careers his and Cole’s efforts impacted are American Idol runner-up and Broadway actress Diana DeGarmo, Country singers Mark Wills and Daron Norwood and Appalachian music and Television star Randall Franks, “Officer Randy Goode” from TV’s “In the Heat of the Night.”
“Johnny encouraged so many of us,” Franks said. “He advised, created opportunities, brought attention to our careers, taught, and preserved history, but mostly he was a friend through the ups and downs of pursuing a mainstream entertainment career who cheered us on. Georgia music just lost one of its greatest promoters and all of us just lost a true friend.”
He managed the country-rock group the Generals and produced shows with some of the biggest names in pop, country and rock music. According to Fiddlin’ John Carson Productions, as a philanthropist, he has help raise over $2 million for various charities.
Carson’s Home going service included performances by Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina performers Lorraine Parker, Joey Stuckey, Danny Roland, Randall Franks, Rick Smith, Mitzie Gardner, J. Max and Teena McKee, Jerry and Helen Burke, Dean Marsh and Cotton Evans. Phyllis Cole gave a tribute to Johnny and invited others to do the same. Many of the attendees gave brief tributes as well.

The convention has grown through its second year and rapidly filling up its 3rd Annual artist roster. Burton has continued to gain ground in his solo ministry with Singing News charting song, "Take a Stand," and recently recorded a new project at Omni Studios on Music Row, with Jason Webb at the helm. Burton says, "I'm excited to have Evie Hawkins, of EHA, working on new venues for my tour. We are looking forward to a great time in the Lord throughout the U.S." Hawkins notes, "I have been a fan of Rod for quite awhile. It's an honor to work with such a talented artist, and working for him in the past as his publicist for New Hope Music Productions was always a pleasure. I think Rod has put together a great team. He has excellent publicity through Southern Spin Entertainment and I'm so excited to be a part of his team. The wonderful reference I can personally give churches and promoters on Rod Burton is that he has not only been fair and honest in our business agreements, but has gone way over and above those agreements. Although they’re not a household name just yet, Southern Tradition has been making a big mark on Gospel music. They convey a blend of the true nostalgia Gospel music offers, with a fresh musical approach, including intricate harmonies and wonderful musicianship. Group members are Ken Taylor (lead), Mark Taylor (baritone), Thomas Nalley (tenor), Paul Allman (bass), and Tommy Fairchild (piano). Many people will remember Fairchild from his years with the GRAMMY and Dove winning Blackwood Brothers and Oak Ridge Boys.
The group second single, on Homeland Record’s Riversong label, “That's My Kind Of Music,” written by Jerry Kelso and Kristi Fitzwater, is impacting radio now. Their first single release, “Sing Along Song,” was well received at radio across the country. Both songs are from their debut album with Riversong, Sing Along With Southern Tradition.
Besides having a heart to make great music, the group’s first goal is to make a true ministry impact for the cause of Christ. They have a heart for souls and for the needs of others. They are honored to be the National Spokespersons for the International Christian Center for the Deaf (ICCD). They express that they have seen the impact music has, even on those who cannot hear. Their work with ICCD allows them to help get the word out to their audiences about ministering to the deaf in a multitude of ways.
The group’s lead singer, Ken Taylor, shared how all these gentlemen are feeling about the doors God is opening. “The hand of God never ceases to amaze me. He knows who, what, where, when, and how in our lives. I am in awe of His blessings and completely committed to walking the path that He lays out before us in this ministry. I know, without a doubt, that He led us to the Tana Lonon Agency. We feel honored to work with a lady who combines her love for God with a strong work ethic. We’re ready to continue to walk together, with Tana, into every opportunity for ministry that God brings to this quartet.”
Tana Lonon expressed her anticipation about working with Southern Tradition. “I feel so fortunate for the groups that God brings my way. Once in a while, a fairly new group comes along. Sometimes, from that first moment, I find myself feeling very strongly about learning more about them. The more I learned about Southern Tradition, the more I wanted to know. I love their heart and I love their determination to serve God. I am looking forward to our ministry partnership, as well as our great friendship.
